Dear comrades,
With 2025 behind us, it has been a year in which the imperialist powers have once again provided us with new and additional reasons to intensify our efforts to break their tyranny over workers and oppressed peoples around the world.
In Palestine and Syria, years of war have entered a new phase, which only serves to consolidate a situation in which the countries of the Middle East are under the rule of the imperialists and regional powers and are divided between them.
In Ukraine, the imperialists are currently haggling over the details of how the country should be carved up, thereby consolidating their spheres of influence. And in South America, too, the US is using drug smuggling as an obvious false excuse to enter into an unofficial war against Venezuela.
If ceasefires or “peace agreements” are reached on individual fronts, this should not be interpreted as an easing of contradictions. Rather, individual conflicts in which the imperialists sought to appropriate new parts of the world are temporarily stagnating in order to use freed-up resources to start new wars or to advance the arms race between the imperialist superpowers. The world continues to head toward a Third World War.
In Germany, this development is accompanied by significantly more aggressive attacks on the working class and the revolutionary movement. Not only is conscription, which had previously been suspended, being reactivated step by step, but German imperialism is also arming itself on an unprecedented scale for war against its imperialist rivals. At the same time, however, preventive war against its own population is also on its agenda in the form of cuts in the state budget and increased surveillance.
But as bleak as this outlook may be, the past year has also given us new reasons for hope and new sources of motivation for the coming year. On every continent of the world, uprisings, especially among the younger generation, have shaken the models of rule established over years and decades by the imperialists and their regional representatives.
And even in many countries of Western Europe, resistance to the imperialists‘ war course is growing. The solidarity movement with the Palestinian people and protests against militarization and armament mark, at least in our country, the most important mass protests in years.
But we are aware that this is far from enough and that it is above all up to us as communists to transform the justified anger at the policies of the ruling class into ongoing and revolutionary struggles to liberate the peoples of the world from German imperialism.
